The San Miguel Beermen aim to move within reach of completing another “Beeracle” run as they try to stretch their best-of-five Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinal series against Rain or Shine in Game Four on Sunday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Tip-off is set at 5 p.m. live on TV5.
The Beermen, despite playing without the explosive Tyler Wilkerson, stunned Rain or Shine in Game Three, 104-98, to extend their tournament lives.
Marcio Lassiter carried the cudgels in that win, scoring 30 points. It was his best game of the series as he had averaged only three markers a game in the first two games.
Alex Cabagnot also finished with 28 points for the Beermen which cut Rain or Shine’s 2-1 series lead.
San Miguel will try to fend off elimination once more and this time, the Beermen will get help from old reliable import AZ Reid who arrived on Saturday to replace Wilkerson, who was dumped by the team after his ugly post-game outburst in Game Two.
Rain or Shine doesn’t want to be on the bad end of another possible epic comeback by the Beermen, and the Elasto Painters are surely looking forward to wrapping the series up so as to not waste the 2-0 lead that they had built.
Jericho Cruz and Mav Ahanmisi, both having stellar semifinal performances, are going to be relied upon once again after top-scoring for Rain or Shine in Game Three with 25 and 15 points, respectively.
