He'll add it to an already jammed trophy collection that includes five NBA championships with the Lakers, two Olympic gold medals, NBA Finals most valuable player awards, a league MVP award and four All-Star game MVP awards.  RELATED:   Shaq, others tweet congratulations Backstage, Bryant looked lovingly at the statue cradled in his hands and mouthed, "My God." GSP talks possible UFC return, says Dana White ‘doesn’t control me’

© Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Will Georges St-Pierre fight again? Will Georges St-Pierre fight again? Esther Lin, MMA Fighting When Georges St-Pierre willingly relinquished his UFC middleweight title last December, he admitted he wasn’t sure if he would ever fight again. “GSP” had been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, likely as a result of his move up to the 185-pound division to challenge Michael Bisping at UFC 217 , and his fighting future was uncertain after becoming only the fourth athlete in promotional history to capture UFC titles in two different weight divisions. Speaking Monday on The MMA Hour , St-Pierre provided an update to his situation. The 36-year-old welterweight legend said that his condition has improved, and that although he remains on medication for his ulcerative colitis, many of his worst symptoms have been resolved. St-Pierre also said he has lost significant weight as a result of his recovery, which has included performing one 24-hour and one 48-hour fas...

Wiggins says 'malicious' doping report smears his reputation

A British parliamentary committee says in a doping investigation report that Bradley Wiggins used a banned powerful corticosteroid to enhance his performance and not for medical reasons while winning the Tour de France in 2012. The report accuses Team Sky of crossing an “ethical line” after preaching zero tolerance. Team Sky criticized “the anonymous and potentially malicious claim” by members of parliament. (AP Photo/Laurent Rebours, File) LONDON — Bradley Wiggins says he is the subject of a "malicious" attempt to smear his name as he strongly denied accusations from British lawmakers that he used banned substances to enhance his performance while preparing to win the 2012 Tour de France."Not at any time during m...

Phil Mickelson a winner again and wants more

MEXICO CITY — Phil Mickelson knew this was coming, even when he had so little to show for it. Mickelson had gone 101 tournaments around the world since he last won at Muirfield in the 2013 British Open, which moved him to No. 2 in the world and gave him the third leg of the career Grand Slam. In more than two decades on the PGA Tour, he had gone only two seasons without winning. And then it was up to four straight years and counting. There was more frustration than self-doubt. And with Mickelson, even at age 47, there was never a loss of confidence. "I knew that wasn't going to be my last one, no," he said Sunday. "And this isn't either." The most recent one came in the high altitude of the Mexico Championship, and it was another pulsating performance, as often is the case with Mickelson. Five birdies in the opening 10 holes gave him the lead. Right when he was on the verge of taking control, he went for the green on the par-5 11th hole only for the sh...

Harvick led 214 of the 267 laps, won all three stages and was 2.9 seconds in front of second-place Kyle Busch at the finish. Harvick's domination Sunday comes one week after he led 173 of 325 laps during his win at Atlanta Motor Speedway . Michigan beats Purdue to win 2nd straight Big Ten Tournament

NEW YORK — The tenacious point guard his coach calls a "pit bull" drove to the basket, but instead of putting up his go-to hook shot Zavier Simpson whipped a pass to the backup big man who became a Michigan folk hero at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Jon Teske's two-handed slam brought down the house and pretty much finished off No. 8 Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament championship game. With Simpson playing catalyst on both ends of the floor — running Michigan's efficient offense and leading its lock-down defense — and Teske scoring a surprising 14 points, the 15th-ranked Wolverines beat the Boilermakers 75-66. Fifth-seeded Michigan (28-7) became the first team to repeat as Big Ten Tournament champs since Ohio State in 2010 and '11. Simpson finished with 10 points, five assists and five rebounds. Moe Wagner led Michigan with 17 points and was named most outstanding player of the tournament, despite playing only 17 minutes against Purdue because of foul trouble...

Surrender at City shows Chelsea's fire has gone under Conte

MANCHESTER, England — Chelsea's compact defensive block lurched from side to side, the players mentally as much as physically drained and seemingly hypnotized by the passing patterns being weaved by Manchester City in front of them. It was the 75th minute, Chelsea was down 1-0 in one of its biggest games of the season, and the team was being toyed with. At one stage, City midfielder David Silva had control of the ball and stood motionless near the touchline. Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas sidled up to him but didn't put in a tackle. Silva waited a few seconds and passed the ball back to a teammate. This was no mutiny from Chelsea — the players, in fact, were carrying out their coach's instructions to the letter — but a passive acceptance of its place below City in English soccer's realigned hierarchy this season. "We could have played on for three hours," said Eden Hazard, who had the unenviable role as Chelsea's lone striker in the 1-0 loss at City ...

Dana White Was Watching Wilder-Ortiz At UFC 222

© Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images The Arlovski vs. Struve fight at UFC 222 was a bust, but fortunately White had other viewing options. While you were watching Saturday’s UFC 222 pay-per-view card, you might have noticed a couple of moments where you could swear they were just killing time for some reason. We’ve witnessed a lot of that on FOX Sports broadcasts after quick knockouts, but usually PPVs are full steam ahead from start to finish. We suspect the delays were to let the Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz fight end before getting to the more important fights on the card. The UFC was certainly very aware of the Wilder fight. White has name-dropped the heavyweight boxer as a potential mega superstar, and rather than watch the Andrei Arlovski vs. Stefan Struve fight at UFC 222, White elected to check out Wilder vs. Ortiz instead. The Wilder-Ortiz fight ended with Wilder landing a huge knockout in the 10th round and continuing his reign of excellenc...

Mbappe “highly questionable” against Real Madrid

© Photo by Catherine Ivill/Getty Images Photo by Catherine Ivill/Getty Images Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe is “highly questionable” for Tuesday’s match against Real Madrid , according to a report from Telefoot. If he can’t make it in time for the crucial match, it’d be yet another blow to PSG’s chances after the French side lost Neymar due to an ankle injury a week ago. On the other hand, Real Madrid will be completely healthy as both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric rejoined the squad in training this Sunday, meaning that they recovered in time to play in Paris, just like Marcelo. Real Madrid hold a 3-1 lead on aggregate, so they just need to take care of business and any goal they can score would force PSG to find the back of the net three times or more. Still, coach Zinedine Zidane will surely want to see his players putting on a good performance, not only secure the ticket to the next round of the competition.

Madrid star Ronaldo reaches 300 Liga goals - in fewer matches than Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo set new La Liga history on Saturday as he became only the second player to score 300 goals in the competition. The Real Madrid star was teed up on the stroke of half time by Karim Benzema to put his side 2-0 up against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu. That goal means he has now completed his triple century in the Spanish top flight, the second man to do so after Lionel Messi, and in record time. 300 - Cristiano Ronaldo has become the second player to score 300 goals in La Liga after Lionel Messi (372). With 372 Liga goals and counting, however, the Argentine still holds a healthy lead in the overall sc...

Wie clinches LPGA Singapore event for first win since 2014

SINGAPORE — Michelle Wie holed a 36-foot putt from off the green on the final hole to win the Women's World Championship by one stroke on Sunday and capture her first LPGA tournament since the 2014 U.S. Women's Open. With four players in contention to win on the last hole, Wie managed to separate herself from the pack when she drained her lengthy birdie putt on the 72nd hole at the Sentosa Golf Club for a final round of 7-under 65 to finish at 17-under 271. The 28-year-old Wie, who led the tournament after three rounds a year ago before fading on the last day, leaped into the air and clenched her fist in celebration as the ball disappeared into the bottom of the cup. But she still faced an anxious wait before being declared the champion. "Winning is everything. I mean, there is no better feeling than when you think you sink that winning putt. It's a high, for sure," Wie said. "You go out there, and it's this feeling that gets you going. It's this...

NFL prospect refuses to let amputation dash his dream

Replay Video SETTINGS OFF HD HQ SD LO Video provided by Dailymotion Shaquem Griffin should hope every top NFL personnel executive sees him in the same light as Tom Telesco does. When it comes to the University of Central Florida linebacker’s lack of a left hand affecting his draft stock, the Chargers general manager said the words Griffin wants to hear. "You wouldn't notice it watching him play," Telesco told me this week at the NFL Scouting Combine. "You just don't." Griffin hasn't let the impediment — the result of a birth defect (Amniotic Band Syndrome) that caused amputation at the age of four — dash his football dreams. Griffin excelled the past two seasons for the Knights, including his 62-tackle, 5.5-sack 2017 campaign that helped UCF finish as the only unbeaten FBS team. "I could have been that kid who can feel all the negativities that were thrown at me,” Griffin told co-host Bill Polian and me ea...

Aaron Boone Addresses Giancarlo Stanton's Terrible Day in Left Field

© Elsa/GettyImages New York Yankees Photo Day After trading for Giancarlo Stanton , Yankees fans could not do anything other than smile and think about the launching pad that is now the right handed batters box at Yankee Stadium.  One thing that may have been overlooked was how exactly the  outfield  would look. Sure, Stanton will DH most of the time, but what about when somebody else needs an off day? What about when he's got to pop up in the outfield? Stanton and Aaron Judge are both right fielders, so clearly something needs to be worked out. Stanton is getting tested in the opposite corner outfield position in left field. On Sunday, he had a shaky performance, dropping at least three sun-aided balls thanks to bizarre route work.b But the relentlessly positive Aaron Boone doesn't seem to have lost any hope.  Aaron Boone on Giancarlo Stanton's day in left field: "Frankly, I saw nothing today that keeps me from feeling good about him going...
