The 33-year-old Atom Araullo tweeted the following message "Having studied pressing issues based on fact and with an open mind, journalists, like any other individual, should immediately stand up the truth. This does not weaken our journalism. It strengthens it," he said in a statement on Twitter.

Some rumors keeps on spreading online that move of Atom Araullo was done to protect the integrity of ABS-CBN who is also dubbed by most Duterte supporters as one of the bias media network in the country.
Atom Araullo's unexpected resignation as reporter of ABS-CBN was allegedly due to his stance against the decision of Pres. Duterte to let the remains of the late Pres. Ferdinand Marcos to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
The veteran journalist also noted that his political stance is not the reason why he decided to resign as reporter of ABS-CBN.
