Sen. Lacson Reveals Reason Why He Blocked Gina Lopez Confirmation "Na-Rehab Siya Dati"

Former PNP Chief and one of the country's most prominent lawmaker, Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson revealed the reason why he blocked the confirmation of former Environment Secretary Gina Lopez. According to Sen. Lacson, Gina Lopez was forcefully put in a rehab facility when she was still young.

The revelations of Sen. Ping Lacson was released during a radio interview as he cited a 1975 Supreme Court document involving habeas corpus petition filed by the minor Gina Lopez against her own mother Conchita Lopez who forcefully put her in a drug rehab facility for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Based upon the document cited by Sen. Lacson, Gina Lopez was "voluntarily submitted by her mother to the Court for treatment and rehabilitation for drug dependency on July 4, 1974" and to put her in a "physical examination" to determine whether "she is still a drug dependent or not and/or she is suffering from personality disorder or not"

According to Sen. Lacson the document also showed that the Habeas Corpus petition of Lopez was dismissed when she escaped from the Dare Care Foundation Inc., where she was scheduled to be examined by the doctors there.

Although Sen. Lacson already knew the document, he didn't asked Lopez about the issue during the hearing because it's too personal. He also clarified that he's only explaining why he rejected Lopez appointment, amid the claims of Pres. Duterte that there's a "lobby money" involved in the decision of the CA to reject Gina Lopez.

Due to the revelations made by Sen. Lacson, Gina Lopez responded by explaining that her parents put her in the rehab facility to keep her away from an African group that she joined when she as 18 years old.

The former DENR Secretary also said that Sen. Lacson's claims was "below the belt" and she said that she didn't smoke nor take alcohol.

Veteran columnist Rigoberto Tiglao exposed the Land Transportation Office (LTO) records of former President Benigno Aquino III showing that he never bought or sold an expensive Porsche car. The LTO records proved that the former President did not sold his Porsche 911 Carrera car which he claimed he bought for P5 million. The controversial Porsche car of the former President made headlines just months into his presidency but he explained that he bought the luxury car with the proceeds he got when he sold his BMW. According to Tiglao during that time he asked through his column the LTO to release the car's deed of sale and registration to prove that it was not a gift from a Chinese-Filipino tycoon as rumored by some individuals critical to the President. The only possible way to discover whether the Porsche luxury was indeed sold was through ...
