Former Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford said Thursday he was having surgery to rectify a hernia injury.The British athlete, who won Olympic gold on home soil in 2012 and took bronze at last year's Rio Games, missed this year's World Championships in London because of an ankle problem. However, the 30-year-old told his Twitter followers it was another health issue that had led him to have surgery following the end of the outdoor season, with Rutherford posting a picture of himself on his hospital bed."Heading down to have my groin chopped up and then reconstructed soon," said Rutherford, also the 2015 world champion. "They just need me to get changed... Have a tasty hernia that needs sorting out. Can't wait."
