Tai Wynyard is looking to carve out a role in UK’s young frontline this season.
The Kentucky Wildcats are getting healthier as the regular season is closing in.
On Monday, the school announced that redshirt sophomore Tai Wynyard was returning from his injury as UK hosts Morehead State.

Wynyard was dealing with an injury to his face suffered two weeks ago, as well as lingering back issues in the preseason, though neither were thought to be serious. He did end up missing the first exhibition game vs Thomas More.
It will be interesting to see how well Wynyard looks tonight in his first game of the season against a Division I foe in Morehead State. The Eagles don’t exactly have the kind of frontline UK will face in SEC play and in the NCAA Tournament, but it’s still a good chance to see how much the New Zealander has progressed over the last year.
Wynyard averaged 0.7 points and 0.9 rebounds and appeared in 15 games last season. He logged a season-high 12 minutes and pulled in two rebounds in UK’s overtime victory against Georgia Jan. 31, He would appear in just two of the final 16 games.
