Unang dokyu ni Atom Araullo sa ‘I-Witness,’ ngayong Sabado na

SA kanyang unang documentary para sa I-Witness ngayong Sabado (Disyembre 2), aalamin ni Atom Araullo ang kuwento ng mga Rohingya na itinuturing ng United Nations na “most persecuted minority’” sa buong mundo.

Nitong mga nakaraang taon, lumaganap ang pag-aaklas sa hilagang bahagi ng Myanmar. Nagpatuloy ang girian ng nakararaming Buddhist Burmese at ng maliit na grupong Muslim na Rohingya. Dahil dito, puwersahang lumikas ang libu-libong Rohingya patungo sa katabing bansang Bangladesh.

Ayon sa United Nations, ang ilang dekadang pang-aabuso at pagmamalabis ng mga militar sa Myanmar ay maituturing na isang uri ng “ethnic cleansing”. Malinaw ang pahayag ng pamahalaan ng Myanmar tungkol sa mga Rohingya na sila ay mga dayo samantalang sa Bangladesh na kumukop naman sa kanila ay immigrant naman ang turing at anumang oras ay maaari silang pabalikin sa kanilang pinanggalingan.

Sa ngayon, ang mga Rohingya ang pinakamalaking komunidad sa mundo na walang kinabibilangang bansa. Ang hindi pagkilala sa kanila bilang mamamayan ng Myanmar ay maaaring maglagay sa kanila sa mapang-abusong sitwasyon dahil wala silang nakukuhang legal na proteksiyon mula sa alinmang pamahalaan.

Si Atom, na isa ring United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees advocate, ay nagtungo sa Dhaka, kabisera ng Bangladesh. Nakilala niya roon ang mga Pilipinong naghahanda ng relief goods na ipapamahagi sa mga Rohingyang nakatira sa pinakamalaking refugee camp sa katimugang ng bansa. Umaabot sa 18 oras ang biyahe ng grupo na naging peligroso at mahirap makalimutan ang kanilang paglalakbay.

Samahan si Atom sa paglalakbay na ito bilang bahagi pa rin ng 18th anniversary series ng I-Witness, ngayong Sabado pagkatapos ng Celebrity Bluff sa GMA-7.

R. Tiglao Exposed LTO Records Showing Aquino Never Bought or Sold a Porsche

Veteran columnist Rigoberto Tiglao exposed the Land Transportation Office (LTO) records of former President Benigno Aquino III showing that he never bought or sold an expensive Porsche car. The LTO records proved that the former President did not sold his Porsche 911 Carrera car which he claimed he bought for P5 million.
