At least five personnel from the South Police District Special Operations Unit (DSOU-SPD) were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in robberry-extortion incident that transpired inside the DSOU-SPD office.
The police personnel were identified as PO3 Simon P. Respicio, PO2 Jimmy Abadines, PO1 Randy Mangubat, PO1 Kervilyn Dugyawe, and PO1 Moli M. Esmail.
The operation, which was led by Police Sr. Supt. Joel C. Pernito, was conducted together with DSRU personnel.
Based on initial information, the police received information on an ongoing transaction between the arresting officer and one of the relatives of the suspect, identified as Roselyn Genorga, who was allegedly arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 302018 at 9 p.m. in Merville, Pasay City for illegal gambling related charge or a violation of provisions under R.A. 9287.
The DSOU operatives allegedly solicited P25,000.00 in exchange for the liberty of Genorga.
The police recovered the P25,000 from the arrested policemen, who are now in restricted custody and for inquest. — BAP, GMA News
