The head of the urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) on Thursday said they will conduct an investigation into the alleged renting out of housing units in Pandi, Bulacan by its members.
Gloria Arellano, national chairperson of Kadamay, stated this in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV, according to a report on News To Go.
The National Housing Authority said 667 units occupied by Kadamay in the government housing project in Pandi are being rented out.
NHA personnel discovered this when they went to the units and found that other families were occupying them.
Kadamay meanwhile said that if the allegation is true, it is because the government is not helping them.
Under the law, the sale, mortgage, and renting out of units in government housing projects are prohibited.
The NHA said those found doing such actions will be blacklisted. —KG, GMA News
