After trading for Giancarlo Stanton, Yankees fans could not do anything other than smile and think about the launching pad that is now the right handed batters box at Yankee Stadium.
One thing that may have been overlooked was how exactly the outfield would look.
Sure, Stanton will DH most of the time, but what about when somebody else needs an off day? What about when he's got to pop up in the outfield?
Stanton and Aaron Judge are both right fielders, so clearly something needs to be worked out. Stanton is getting tested in the opposite corner outfield position in left field. On Sunday, he had a shaky performance, dropping at least three sun-aided balls thanks to bizarre route work.b
But the relentlessly positive Aaron Boone doesn't seem to have lost any hope.
Aaron Boone on Giancarlo Stanton's day in left field: "Frankly, I saw nothing today that keeps me from feeling good about him going forward and the work that he's already done."
— Bryan Hoch (@BryanHoch) March 4, 2018In fact, Stanton is set to play left field again in his next game.
Giancarlo Stanton said that he expects to play LF in his next game. That'd be Tuesday at Tigers in Lakeland.
— Bryan Hoch (@BryanHoch) March 4, 2018Obviously playing a new position takes some getting used to, especially when you're playing in the bigs and balls are coming off of the bat at over 100 mph.
I am sure Stanton will get his feet under him in left soon and everything will get sorted out.
Just keep dreaming about all of the home runs, Yankees fans.
